Thermal Insulating Concrete
This research aims to develop thermal insulating concrete by designing an appropriate mix incorporating materials such as Sintered Fly Ash Aggregates (SFA) and Polypropylene Fibre. A detailed investigation was conducted to understand the material properties of cement, SFA, and fibres, ensuring their suitability in lightweight, insulating concrete applications. Special attention was given to the physical characteristics of SFA, including its color variations from grey to brown and surface texture, which can influence the concrete's overall performance and thermal behavior.
The study also involved comparing temperature differences between rooms constructed with conventional M30 concrete and those built with the proposed thermal insulating concrete, to evaluate the material's real-world effectiveness. Potential practical applications were explored, especially in prefabricated building components, where lightweight and high thermal resistance were critical. The goal of this research was to promote energy efficient and sustainable building solutions by integrating thermally efficient materials into structural concrete without compromising strength.
